Chair
Kathryn Greiner AO
Kathryn has had the opportunity to contribute to a wide range of leadership positions in public and private companies, government bodies, and non-profit organizations. Her current portfolio sees her Chair, Luminesce Alliance – a consortium of clinicians and researchers from the Children’s Medical Research Institute; Childrens’ Cancer Institute; SCHN, USYD and UNSW; Chair, Pennington Institute, Australia’s pre-eminent harm minimization for Drugs education program; Chair, Lifestart Disability Services Ltd; and a Director of the Paul Ramsay Foundation and Relationships Australia (NSW).
Kathryn has participated in or led inquiries into education, including The Gonski Review; and NSW Catholic Funding Review, and the Review into Retirement Villages in NSW. From 1995-2004 Kathryn was an elected Councillor to Sydney City Council. She is the recipient of an Order of Australia and holds a Bachelor of Social Work (UNSW), a Certificate in Early Childhood (Macquarie), and a Doctor of Letters (Honoris Causa, UNSW).
Alex Gottshall OAM
Alex has been honorary communications adviser to The Salvation Army for 40-plus years, his close commitment to community service to a range of charities and not-for-profit organisations was recognised with an Order of Australia Honour in 2019. He holds degrees in Arts (Sydney University), Laws (Honours), and Communications (UTS) as well as being admitted to the NSW Supreme Court and High Court of Australia.
Alex is a former President of the Public Relations Institute of Australia. After key public affairs management roles in professional and financial services, Alex established his own strategic consultancy in 1987 to provide effective counsel to heads of major Australian and international companies and institutions seeking guidance and support especially when facing challenging issues and increased stakeholder scrutiny. Utilising an extensive network in business, media and government, this includes particular focus on protecting and strengthening corporate values and implementing crisis communications strategies.
Brad Pillinger
Brad began selling high-end luxury property in 1995. The son of Sydney’s real estate doyen Ron Pillinger, he inherited his father’s focus, determination and the expert art of negotiation. A Trinity Grammar School scholar and graduate from UNSW, his career started with a bang after he sold the Heinze Estate, “Fintry”, Bellevue Hill. Every year since, without exception, Brad’s name has appeared among Australia’s top ten property sales by price.
Brad has a relentless focus on achieving the very best price for each individual vendor, regardless of property size and price point. He has the ability to make even the most complicated transactions smooth and seamless. Numerous sales of the same property at ever-increasing prices are a testament to his strong skill set, experience, and enduring vendor relationships. Brad is a long-standing supporter of the Red Shield Appeal and The Salvation Army who is deeply committed to helping the most vulnerable in our community.
Ivano Simonutti
Ivano is a career banker. He is currently Executive, NAB Private Bank. Having worked in various client-facing and leadership roles for close to two decades, Ivano supports Australian business owners and high-net-worth investors, individuals, and families to achieve their wealth and investment goals.
Ivano is a passionate, results-driven executive focused on delivering the best outcomes for clients and the communities NAB serves. As a values-driven leader, Ivano is committed to supporting and enabling his team to partner with clients to build trusted and personal relationships. Ivano brings this same commitment to his work supporting The Salvation Army.
Roderick H. McGeoch AO, LLB
Rod has combined a successful legal career with varying consulting and business interests to be a well-respected figure in a range of sectors. He is considered one of the world’s leading figures in the field of event bidding as well as running a range of businesses in several countries including Australia, NZ, Thailand, Argentina, UK, India and China.
This and his commitment to helping others were recognised in 2013 with an Order of Australia for distinguished service to the community particularly through leadership in securing the Sydney Olympic Games. Rod has considerable experience in the not-for-profit sector. He has held the role of Chairman of the Board of the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA); Inaugural Chairman of the Sony Foundation; and a Member of the Council of the Sydney Symphony Orchestra.
Rod has also had a long-standing relationship with The Salvation Army having previously served on its then Sydney Advisory Board. Rod has served on the International Board of Morgan Stanley as well as the Boards of Ramsay Health Care Limited, Telecom Corporation Limited, SKYCITY Entertainment Group Limited, Chubb Insurance Australia Limited, and Gullivers Limited. More recently Rod’s considerable experience was enlisted as a Member of the Task Force of NSW Government during the COVID-19 Pandemic.
Patrick Tuttle
Patrick has a strong commitment to the not-for-profit sector. He is a long-standing supporter of The Salvation Army and a member of its Sydney Corporate and Philanthropic Advisory Council. He is also Non-Executive Chair, Catholic Diocese of Parramatta Services Limited, and a Non-Executive Director, The Ireland Funds Australia. In business, Patrick is a Chartered Accountant. He was Australian CEO and Group Co-CEO of Pepper Group (ASX:PEP) where he was instrumental in successfully driving a sustained period of global expansion. At the time of his departure, Pepper Group had in excess of $50 billion in loans and assets under management, and over 2000 employees across seven countries.
A non-executive director with extensive financial services experience, he holds current board positions with COG Financial Services Limited (ASX:COG) where he is a Non-Executive Chair of Australia’s largest finance broking and asset finance group; Shift Financial as a Non-Executive Director; and Weel, where Patrick is a Non-Executive Director. Patrick is the Co-Founder & Executive Director of Azora Finance Group – a fast-growing asset finance lender; Beforepay Group Limited (ASX: B4P) as Non-Executive Director; Openpay Group Limited (ASX: OPY).
James Condon
Commissioner Emeritus James Condon has been an Officer of The Salvation Army for 53 years. Now retired, he previously served in a variety of leadership roles in Australia, Papua New Guinea and the United Kingdom. From 2011 to 2016 James was the Commissioner for The Australian Eastern Territory which covered New South Wales, Queensland, and the Australian Capital Territory.
Since retiring James has continued service to God in a variety of ways including as Chairman of the Bible League Australia and New Zealand, Chairman of the National Day of Prayer, and Chairman of Caloundra City Pastor’s Network. James is also Chairman of DV Safe Phone as well as a board member of Destiny Rescue.
Marianne Birch
Marianne is an Executive Director of Macquarie Capital and the Chair of Financial Institutions Group, ANZ. She has extensive experience in financial services, having worked on many of the largest and most complex M&A and capital raising assignments in Australia over the past two decades.
Marianne is the Chair of the Sydney Corporate and Philanthropic Advisory Council for The Salvation Army; a past President of the Financial Services Institute of Australasia (FINSIA); Fellow Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand; Fellow Australian Institute of Company Directors; a member of Chief Executive Women.
